The CSE operates in a self regulatory manner, and is subject to the regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.  The CSE has three trading systems for the trading of equity and debt instruments.

Those include -
  • The Automated Trading System (ATS)
  • The Debt Securities Trading System (DEX)
  • Internet Trading
The Boards at the CSE include -
  • Cash Board - Settlement on Trade date (T)
  • TOM Board - Settlement on T+1
  • SPOT Board - Settlement on T+2
  • Forward Board - Settlement over T+3
  • Crossing Board - Negotiated Trades (only for Gov. Debt)
  • Sell & Buy Back (SBB) - Sale/Purchase on a predetermine in future at a predetermined price (Only for Govt. Debt)
  • SSB Crossing Board - Negotiated SSB transactions (Only Govt. Debt)
